American Book Company (ABC) an established leader in educational publishing, serves nearly 6000 schools, with innovative print and digital educational resources that help students achieve success in and out of the classroom.
American Book Company aimed to elevate and improve upon its online testing platform, CourseWave. The challenge was two-pronged: for students, to design an experience that allowed intuitive test completion without prior system training; for educators, to ensure the portal was user-friendly for reviewing and grading completed tests.
Our approach began with evaluating the range of questions used across different state standardized tests by grade level and subject. We then collaborated with educators and web developers to design a set of controls, components, and templates adaptable for any question type.
Navigation on the left side allows students to quickly identify questions they may have skipped and jump to them with ease. At the end of each test, students can review a summary of their test before submitting it for grading. Our focus on maintaining a consistent and easy-to-understand user interface throughout the testing experience ensures students can confidently complete tests on their first try.
Educators are provided instant feedback on student scores through their Classroom Management Dashboard and the ability to review and evaluate student responses.
The new CourseWave design successfully delivers a seamless testing experience, allowing educators to customize instruction and create a more engaging learning environment.
